Our tale begins in the very cringe filled time of the 1970s. After the events of World war 2 labour was at its all time low because of the economy and because of that there weren’t many people to work in NZ, New Zealand decided to open up its borders. So many people from different countries came. The people of samoan tongan British Scottish English were welcomed to New Zealand but the Government disliked that there were so many islanders.

Having had more than enough manpower to continue and with many of the islanders not even having jobs, They decided to raid they’re houses demanding papers, passports, pretty much anything that proved they had the right to be here but if they didn’t have a single thing they would be arrested. The public was disgusted by this course of action. They knew that they were specifically targeting islanders and not the english.

As a matter of fact over ⅔ of the overstayers were British and north-american but the Government didn’t even brush a shoulder towards them.So many people started to take action against the government. So was born the polynesian panthers.

After many years the prime minister on New zealand gave an apology about the dawn raids
